Kean Nakamura-Berta doubles up, fastest again in free practice 2

At the ACI Racing Weekend Mugello, the drivers of the E4 Championship completed the second 40-minute free practice session, a crucial opportunity to fine-tune their setups. Once again, it was Kean Nakamura-Berta with Prema Racing who set the pace, posting the fastest lap of the day in 1’49.155 during the final stages.

Second place went to Maksimilian Popov with Van Amersfoort Racing, who also produced a late push and finished 0.324 seconds off the leader. In third was Sebastian Wheldon with Prema Racing and Andretti Global, 0.396 seconds behind his teammate.

Fourth position went to Mercedes junior Alex Powell with R-ace GP, who had led the session for much of the time and already impressed at Mugello in the Italian Championship. He ended the session 0.

449 seconds down. In fifth came Andrija Kostic with US Racing, at 0.498 seconds, followed by Reno Francot with PHM Racing at 0.539 seconds.

Seventh overall, and quickest among the rookies, was Colombian driver Salim Hanna with Prema Racing, at +0.563. Close behind came his fellow rookies: Dante Vinci with Van Amersfoort Racing at +0.701, Zhenrui Chi with Prema Racing at +0.799, and Andy Consani with R-ace GP, the Mercedes junior making his championship debut and first appearance at Mugello, at +0.816.

Plenty of anticipation also surrounds the women’s competition, with five female drivers on the grid in Tuscany. The fastest in free practice 2 was Emily Cotty with R-ace GP, ahead of Mathilda Paatz with Mathilda Racing and AS Motorsport, followed by Payton Westcott with Van Amersfoort Racing, Ginevra Panzeri with AKM Motorsport, and Aurelia Nobels with AS Motorsport.

The program continues this evening, Friday, September 12, with qualifying: Q1 from 5:20 to 5:35 PM, followed by Q2 from 5:45 to 6:00 PM. Tomorrow, Saturday, September 13, will feature Race 1 at 10:25 AM and Race 2 at 4:40 PM, while Race 3 is scheduled for Sunday, September 14, at 10:40 AM. All races will last 30 minutes plus one lap and will be broadcast live on ACI Sport TV and the international network of broadcasters covering the championship worldwide, as well as via live streaming on the social channels of ACI Sport and the E4 Championship.
